There are really so many interesting ways to format your spreadsheet layout by using the indentation, alignment and orientation features in Excel. When you have finished your changes, just click the OK button. You can adjust the degrees of the angle, the amount of the indentation, etc. The Format Cells dialog box will open on the Alignment tab. It is just below the Merge & Center button. To find more advanced option and adjustments, click on the launch button in the bottom right corner of the Alignment group of buttons on the Home tab. See Figure 4 for the buttons and Figure 5 for the example. The other indent button (Decrease Indent) moves the selection back to the left…the reverse of the Increase Indent).
You can choose the amount of indentation you would like or Excel will use small increments by default. Indenting text can often make your spreadsheet more readable. From the drop-down menu on the Orientation button, choose to rotate your text to angle counterclockwise, clockwise, vertical, rotate text up, and rotate text down.Click the orientation button just to the right of the bottom alignment button in the Alignment group on the Home tab.Select a single cell, range of cells, or even a whole row or column.(For vertical alignment, click on the top, middle, or bottom alignment button.) See Figure 1. On the Home tab, in the Alignment group, click on the alignment button – either left, center, or right.Additionally, you can adjust the orientation of your headings to raise or lower the angle.
You can horizontally indent your cell content, move your numbers or labels to the left, middle, or right. Microsoft provides an easy way to change data alignment and orientation in Excel to make a more visual appealing layout of your spreadsheet.
